Edible Landscaping: Plantings for People & Wildlife Workshop Tuesday, January 31, 7 pm - 8:30 pm at Columbus Junction Civic Center.  Learn what plants can provide beauty and food for you and wildlife. Free.

RUSH Annual Tri-Rivers Fund Raising Auction -February 25, 2012

 

 

Tap the Sap - Learn the basics of small scale maple syrup production with Kathy Dice.  Includes tree selection, drilling, tapping, collection and boiling.  Free.

April

Easter Antler Hunt - A twist on traditional Easter egg hunt!  Educational program followed by antler hunt on trails.  Saturday, April 7 at 9 am - 11 am at Virginia Grove Recreation Area.  Fee: 3$/child.

 

 

 

Hunter Safety Class - Classroom lessons, live fire & shooting demonstrations.  Must be 11 years or older.  Two days required - Thursday, April 12, 6pm - 9mm and Saturday, April 14, 8am - 4:30pm at Langwood Education Center.  Pre-registration mandatory and done online - www.iowadnr.gov/training.  More information call 319-523-8381.

 

Earth Day Event - Help NCCC AmeriCorps crew clean up a little bit of the earth.  Sunday, April 22, time TBA at Chinkapin Bluffs Recreation Area.  Please call Louisa County Conservation at 319-523-8381 or check www.lccb.org.

Louisa County Youth Jamboree - First of a kind event to be held at Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge, Ikes Clubhouse, Shafer's Access, Snively Campground & Langwood Education Center.  A family event geared for youth 8 to 18.  Pre-register by April 20th will guarantee a t-shirt!  Walk-ins welcome.  Fishing, boat rides, bird banding, nature hikes, shooting sports, atl-atl spear throwing and flint knapping.  Saturday, May 5th.  Bird banding at Port Louisa: 7am - 10am other events: 9am - 3pm.  Free will donation.  Lunch included.
